Founded in 1963 by David and Ralph Weidman, Weidman Gallery opened as a showcase exclusively for David Weidman's original serigraphs. As his popularity gained momentum with a large designer and entertainment industry base, they saw the need for quality framing design and workmanship so the transition into the framing business was a natural one.
Eventually, the framing became so predominant, that David stopped making prints in 1974 and started offering other works on paper to showcase their framing diversity. Since then, their reputation as one of the foremost framers in the area quickly spread by word of mouth forming a large and loyal client base.
In 1990 the gallery expanded on its inventory of posters to include vintage advertising and film and now houses one of L. A.'s largest selections.
In 2001, the torch was passed to David and Ralph's niece, Janet, who had been working there on and off since high school. With a background in fashion design and merchandising, she quickly adapted under David's wing.
